Backing Paris 2 Pisa for Brian House
In September 11 local cyclists are completing an 800 mile challenge over just seven days cycling from the Eiffel Tower in Paris to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. They hope to raise an amazing £30,000 for Brian House Children’s Hospice in Bispham.
Brian House is part of Trinity Hospice on the Fylde, which this year celebrates its 30th anniversary, so the cyclists want to give a very special birthday gift as a result of their endeavours – the £30,000 would pay for a specialist children’s nurse for one year.
The riders are completely self-funded which ensures that all the money raised goes directly to Brian House. This means that they are already busy raising sponsorship.
The team have spent time with staff and children at Brian House and been touched by the support offered by the hospice to those who need it; seeing the children and staff has been helping focus the members on the reason for the challenge.
To further help with the motivation for the challenge, they are aiming to collectively complete 30,000 training miles in the run-up to the event. The 800 miles from Paris to Pisa are not all flat; there are two days of climbing over the Alps (Day 4 has a 4,500 ft climb and Day 5 has a 9,000ft climb) in order to reach the Italian border.
The challenge begins on the 12th September 2015. If you would like to sponsor the team you can make a donation by visiting www.paris2pisa.com/donate or you can contact Chamaine Cartwright at our Bispham Office for further information.
